  • Authored and designed by ny152_halle, this destroyer is developed based on the design of the Johnston (DD-557), a Fletcher-class destroyer of the US Navy during World War II, sunk at the bottom of the Philippine Trench now. Authentically recreates key features such as deck guns and propeller shafts.
  • The Johnston (DD-557) Destroyer, part of the Fletcher class, was built for the US Navy during WWII. Named after Lieutenant Commander John V. Johnston, it was laid down in May 1942, launched on March 25, 1943, and commissioned on October 27, 1943, under the command of Commander Ernest E. Evans. It served in various battles, providing naval gunfire support and escort duties. The ship was discovered sunken in the Philippine Trench in October 2019, identified in March 2021, and found to be one of the deepest wrecks at over 20,000 feet. Samuel B. Roberts also sank during the same engagement.
