Titanic was the world's largest passenger ship with the most luxurious interior facilities at the time, and had the reputation of "unsinkable". Unfortunately, on its maiden voyage, the Titanic was doomed - it set sail from Southampton, England, to New York, USA. At about 23:40 on 14 April 1912, Titanic collided with an iceberg, breaking the starboard bow to midship and flooding five watertight compartments. At around 2:20 a.m. on April 15, the Titanic broke in two and sank 3,700 meters to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. Of the 2,224 crew and passengers, 1,517 lost their lives, of which only 333 bodies were recovered.
