  • 🚢Background: Titanic (RMS Titanic), also known as the Titanic, is a British White Star Line under the administration of an Olympic-class cruise ship, 46,000 tons of displacement, March 31, 1909 in Harland and Wolff shipyard began construction, May 31, 1911 launched, April 2, 1912 completed trials.
Titanic was the world's largest passenger ship with the most luxurious interior facilities at the time, and had the reputation of "unsinkable". Unfortunately, on its maiden voyage, the Titanic was doomed - it set sail from Southampton, England, to New York, USA. At about 23:40 on 14 April 1912, Titanic collided with an iceberg, breaking the starboard bow to midship and flooding five watertight compartments. At around 2:20 a.m. on April 15, the Titanic broke in two and sank 3,700 meters to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. Of the 2,224 crew and passengers, 1,517 lost their lives, of which only 333 bodies were recovered. The wreck of the Titanic, the deadliest peacetime maritime disaster, was not rediscovered until 1985 and is under the protection of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
