The YAH-64 prototype made its maiden flight on September 30, 1975. In 1976, the US Army chose the YAH-64 over the YAH-63, and approved full-scale production in 1982. In 1984, the company was acquired, and subsequent buyers continued to produce and develop the AH-64. This type of helicopter was officially deployed to the US Army in April 1986. The advanced AH-64D was delivered to the US Army in March 1997 and continues to be produced. As of March 2024, more than 2,700 helicopters have been delivered to the US Army and its 18 international partners and allies.\u003cbr\u003eThe AH-64 is mainly used by the US Army and has become the main attack helicopter for several countries including Greece, Japan, Israel, the Netherlands, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates. The UK was granted permission to produce this model, known as the AgustaWestland Apache. The US AH-64 was involved in conflicts in Panama, the Persian Gulf, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran. Israel also used the Apache in operations in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
