Each engine is designed as a compact, functional module with moving pistons and a working crankshaft layout. The models can be built as standalone mechanical displays or reused as engine modules inside compatible custom vehicle projects.

Nissan-Inspired Inline-Four

Based on the LZ20BT-style layout used in one of Nico71’s Skyline projects, this engine uses a longitudinal configuration suited to rear-wheel-drive vehicles.

Its brick-built crankshaft and compact piston arrangement can also be extended into a longer inline-six configuration.

Cummins-Inspired Inline-Six

Inspired by the Cummins X15, this straight-six engine uses a longitudinal layout with a liftarm-built crankshaft and a compact piston-support structure.

The modular design makes the engine easy to adapt or extend for larger truck projects.

Citroën-Inspired Front-Drive Inline-Four

Based on the 11D-style engine layout, this model uses a longitudinal front-wheel-drive configuration with gearing positioned toward the front.

Its compact mounting arrangement was designed to help the engine sit lower inside compatible vehicle chassis.

CAT-Inspired V8

Inspired by the CAT 3208, this compact V8 uses angled piston banks and a liftarm-built crankshaft.

The layout was developed for heavy trucks and off-road vehicles where a visually recognizable V8 is needed without taking up excessive chassis space.

Honda-Inspired Transverse Inline-Four

Inspired by the Honda B16, this engine uses a transverse layout suited to front-wheel-drive vehicles.

The drivetrain gearing is integrated into the compact crankshaft structure, helping keep the complete engine package short and efficient.

Functional Pistons & Crankshafts

Rather than relying on large molded engine elements, the designs use smaller building components to create functional pistons, crankshafts, and internal movement.

Nico71 developed these engines over the course of designing different cars and heavy vehicles, where limited space often made conventional simulated-engine solutions difficult to use.

The collection brings several of those designs together in one place, each showing a different way to package pistons, crankshafts, and drivetrain gearing within a compact structure.

The goal was to create engine modules that are functional, visually interesting, and easy to study, modify, or integrate into other creations.
