Recreate a rugged American medium-duty work truck with the MOC-155171 Chevrolet Kodiak C70 4WD Medium-Duty Truck Building Blocks. Designed and authorized by Nico71, this 1,457-piece model combines the distinctive proportions of the Chevrolet Kodiak C70 with a functional 4×4 drivetrain, geared wheel hubs, dual rear wheels, working steering, suspended axles, and a removable V8 diesel engine.
Built at approximately 1:17 scale, the model captures the heavy-duty character of a Class 7 truck while integrating an unusually rich mechanical layout. Opening body panels, a locking fifth wheel, removable cab, and drivetrain-connected engine make the finished vehicle as interesting mechanically as it is visually.
4×4 Drivetrain with Geared Hubs
All four wheels are driven through differentials and wheel-end reduction gearing, creating a realistic medium-duty drivetrain while improving mechanical detail at each axle.
Dual Rear Wheels
The rear axle uses a dual-wheel configuration, reinforcing the heavy-duty appearance and work-truck character of the Kodiak platform.
Rack-and-Pinion Steering
An onboard servo steering system operates through a rack-and-pinion mechanism, giving the front axle functional directional control.
Locking Fifth-Wheel Coupling
A functional fifth wheel includes a locking mechanism for attaching compatible trailers, allowing the truck to serve as a semitractor within a larger transport display.
Fully Suspended Live Axles
Both axles use a live-axle suspension layout with links, springs, and Panhard rods, adding articulation while keeping the axles properly located beneath the chassis.
Removable V8 Diesel Engine
Opening the hood reveals a removable brick-built V8 diesel engine inspired by the Caterpillar 3208. The engine is mechanically connected to the drivetrain, adding visible motion and another layer of engineering detail.
Removable Cab
The entire cab can be detached from the chassis, giving easier access to the internal structure and allowing the underlying Class 7 platform to be explored more clearly.
Opening Doors & Detailed Interior
The doors open to reveal a fully developed cabin, while the hood provides access to the engine compartment and drivetrain details.
Hidden Battery Switch Mechanism
A discreet side-mounted mechanism behind the cab allows access to the battery-box switch while keeping the external appearance clean.
From the Designer
Nico71 created MOC-155171 as a functional recreation of the Chevrolet Kodiak C70, a medium-duty truck platform widely used for work trucks, cargo haulers, dump trucks, and semitractor applications.
The project was also inspired by the designer’s interest in SnowRunner, leading to a model that emphasizes practical truck engineering: four-wheel drive, suspended live axles, a locking fifth wheel, removable powertrain components, and a modular cab-and-chassis layout.
