Designed and authorized by Nico71, this massive 3,172-piece model is inspired by the legendary French Berliet T100, combining six-wheel drive, pneumatic differential locks, working steering, full suspension, a moving V12 engine, auxiliary rear engine, compressor system, and powered winch.

Built at approximately 1:20 scale, the finished model measures around 63 cm long and weighs about 3 kg, giving the truck the imposing proportions expected from a machine originally developed to transport extremely heavy equipment across the Sahara.

Inspired by the Legendary Berliet T100

Introduced by French manufacturer Berliet in the 1950s, the real T100 was created for heavy equipment transport during oil exploration operations in North Africa.

At approximately 15 meters long, 5 meters wide, and 5 meters high, it ranked among the largest trucks of its era and was designed to carry loads approaching 100 tonnes through difficult desert terrain.

6x6 All-Wheel Drive

The model uses a dedicated L motor for each axle, creating a true six-wheel-drive system.

Each axle incorporates its own differential, giving the huge chassis a detailed drivetrain while preserving the mechanical complexity of the original heavy transport concept.

Pneumatic Differential Locks

All three axle differentials can be locked using a pneumatic system.

Dedicated valves control the locking mechanisms, adding an unusually advanced drivetrain feature that can be observed and operated directly on the model.

Integrated Pneumatic Compressor

A separate M motor powers the onboard air compressor, supplying pressure to the differential-locking system.

This creates an independent pneumatic subsystem alongside the truck’s electrical drivetrain.

Working Turbocharged V12 Engine

A large simulated V12 turbocharged engine occupies the front engine compartment and is mechanically connected to the rear drivetrain.

Its movement adds another visible mechanical layer beneath the opening body panels.

Rear Auxiliary Engine

The rear of the truck includes a second simulated engine linked to the compressor motor, recreating the auxiliary machinery found on large specialized industrial vehicles.

Motorized Rack-and-Pinion Steering

An M motor operates the steering through a rack-and-pinion mechanism.

A clutch gear helps protect the system against excessive force when the steering reaches its mechanical limits.

Heavy-Duty Front Suspension

The front uses a five-link live axle with shock absorbers, allowing the enormous axle assembly to articulate while remaining securely positioned beneath the chassis.

Rear Bogie Suspension

The two rear axles use a live-axle bogie arrangement with double Panhard rods, oscillating arms, and anti-roll bars.

Motorized Winch

A dedicated M motor powers the onboard winch, adding another functional system suitable for recovery and heavy transport scenarios.

Opening Body Panels

From the Designer

Nico71 chose to recreate the 700 hp version of the Berliet T100, one of the most remarkable vehicles developed by the French manufacturer during the 1950s.

The original truck was engineered to transport large indivisible loads across Saharan oilfields, reducing the need to disassemble heavy drilling and industrial equipment for transport. Its enormous tires, specialized transmission, braking systems, and extreme dimensions were all dictated by this unusual mission.

For the model, Nico71 translated that engineering character into a 1:20 scale build featuring independent axle drive motors, pneumatic differential locking, realistic suspension systems, a working V12 engine, auxiliary machinery, and a winch.
