Description
Description
Designed and authorized by WPNGLS, this engine comes with an M motor and a battery box to support the cylinders radiate outward from the central crankcase, resembling spokes of a wheel.
This model is like a real radial engine, meaning both rows are joined directly to each other, giving the shortest possible length of the engine. It’s one of the features of multi-row radial engines, where the spacing between rows is minimized.
Also, the cylinders of each row are staggered, to expose each cylinder to cooling air as much as possible. Only liquid cooled radial engines have cylinders in banks, to make the design of the coolant galleries less complex. And, to replicate the real engines, it has a two throw crank shaft with slave rods on master rods
14-cylinder radial engines have not been widely used; however, one of the most renowned examples is the powerful BMW 801, appeared during World War II in various models of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter and the Junkers Ju 88 bomber. These radial engines powered several types of aircraft, notably including the Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp, which was used in many Western aircraft such as the DC3 or Dakota and the B-24 Liberator, as well as several German aircraft like the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 and Junkers Ju 88. The Russian Shvetsov ASh-82 engine, another 14-cylinder radial, produced about 70,000 units, powering famous Russian aircraft. Another 14-cylinder radial, the Bristol Hercules, utilized sleeve valves instead of poppet valves, with nearly 60,000 units manufactured.
